Louis Vuitton wanted to pay tribute to this artist by collaborating with her retrospective exhibition and creating several Limited Edition product lines.
Louis Vuitton is pleased to partner with the first retrospective exhibition dedicated to the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama, in an exhibition that has traveled the world from the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía in Madrid to the Whitney Museum in New York, where it was inaugurated on Tuesday 10 de julio.
Marc Jacobs - Artistic Director of Louis Vuitton, who feels a deep admiration for Kusama - will reinterpret the most iconic works of the Japanese, as well as designing together with Kusama several installations for the shop windows of all its stores in the world, that yesterday were presented for the first time at the Maison Louis Vuitton on 5th Avenue in New York.
Installation, artistic tribute to Kusama, embraces the immensity of his work through three themes: “Beginning of the Universe,” “Eternal Blooming Flowers in My Mind,” y “Self-Obliteration”In the middle of a facade covered by the traditional giant-sized Kusama moles, contextualizing the vision of the artist throughout the 5th Avenue.
The morning window reveal coincided with the opening of Kusama's retrospective exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art that same evening., attended by celebrities such as Sofia Coppola, Diane Kruger y Joshua Jackson, Dianna Agron, Margherita Missoni and Lauren Santo Domingo entre otros.
